Blue-Dot (www.blue-dot.ca) uses Nagios (www.nagios.org) as one of its applications to monitor customer environments. Our monitoring system is fully customized to be able to monitor any type of service, applications or hardware platform. We decided to use SNMP Informant Advanced version and the associated Exchange 2000 extender to permit Nagios to provide monitoring services of the customer's mail infrastructure (3500 users). The software allows us to use SNMP OIDs in Nagios to view specific performance metrics while maintaining unified monitoring system that gives us a single view of both what is up and how it is performing.  We are also considering using the SNMP Informant Advanced version for monitoring Active Directory and DNS. - F.P.  Toronto, Ontario, CAN.
