Introduction

This page will (hopefully) become a repository of MRTG helper scripts to aid in extracting data from devices where SNMP is either not feasible or not possible. If you have a cool script you wrote, please consider sending it in, and I will post it here for others to access.

Please note that limited help is available for these scripts.

WSH Scripts

You should only require that WSH is installed on your NT/2K/XP system in order to run these scripts. They do not make any WMI calls, so should run on NT as well as 2K and XP.

- getsize.vbs		Script to monitor file or directory size	NT/2K/XP

Active-X Scripts

These scripts require this (Active X components) zip file to be downloaded, and instperf.bat to be run.

- ax_pdisk.vbe		Script to monitor physical disk activity	NT/2K/XP
- ax_procstats.vbe		Script to monitor process statistics	NT/2K/XP

WMI Scripts

Each script is pretty well commented, and includes a debug option to help you figure things out. In addition, you can have the script log to the event log if you like. Perhaps later I will add a switch or INI file input to minimize or eliminate the need to edit the scripts.

These script can be used as the basis for many other WMI-centric MRTG helpers! All you need is a little patience. I suggest that you check out ScriptoMatic, available here to help you get the data you want. You won't believe how easy it can be!

PERL Scripts

You should be able to just run these scripts once MRTG is installed after PERL. If not, get the SNMP_Util module here. This is Simon Leinen's web site, and he is responsible for this piece of code.
